"Newbury is an archeologist/historian who secretly works on behalf of Queen Victoria, currently alive via life support and actively ruling her kingdom, and Hobbes is his able female assistant. They are called on to investigate the crash of an airship that killed all of the people on board. The airship was piloted by an automaton that has now gone missing, and the mystery leads them back to the company that makes the automata. This is an adult book, but would be suitable for older teen readers (no cursing, off-scene drug use [opium] some violence with zombie/revenant people- eating)."
